Tldraw Closes Repo To Outside Contributors
tldraw has been on a tear lately. The demos keep coming: canvas AI agents, 3D world-building with sprites, turning Excalidraw-style wireframes into real UI, live coding with output rendered directly on the canvas, running live SQL queries inside a collaborative space, and more than most people can even keep track of. It’s one of those projects where every demo makes you stop scrolling.
People didn’t just admire it. They chose it. They made it their canvas of choice. They paid for it. Enterprises included. A cool project, i mean!
This week they closed the repo completely to outside contributors. With Ai, anyone can open a PR, few even care to follow-up, the saddest part of it all. And the author is trying to think of what to do next.
I think people are not against Ai, they want genuine interaction and want don’t want to deal with an overload of slop. You don’t want to drown yourself in a sea of meaninglessness, however useful, i guess.
