Using Ai products does not equal endorsing the ethics of the companies behind them. Both things can be true at the same time. We can use the tools. And still call out the behavior. That distinction matters. Because silence is how bad incentives get normalized. This might seem obvious but as i pointed out in my last post:

“It’s that some of the smartest people in tech see nothing wrong with it. They assure us, putting on their humanistic soirée mask, that it’s for the benefit of the whole world.”

It’s important to point out how Ai companies are vampires as, when i visited Silicon Valley last time, i noticed that we lost tech’s vanguard over there. If for example, people are infringing copyright, they are doing it. Some people from over there are like “Oh no, but you know they are preserving humanity’s knowledge bla bla”

As tech workers we also contribute directly to the ignoble mission of making people hooked to screens, facilitate surveillance, sustain labor exploitation and destroy the environment. I concur and don’t have a response to this.

But that doesn’t mean we stop drawing lines. With Ai, we still have leverage. We still have ethical models. We can still push companies to do better. Not by pretending everything is fine. But by refusing to confuse utility with virtue.
