Contributing To Opensource Is A Great Way To Become Based

Contributing to OpenSource can be a great way to become based. In Ai or whatever the domain. Before giving back, it’s first and foremost a way to learn and understand things deeply.

And it takes time, a lot of time. Unless the project is super gated, your pull request will be approved! If it not approved for being trivial, you know you need to level up. It gives you a sense of how much high you need to aim. Even if the project is super gated, forking it as a learning experience is great. But, it is purposeful knowledge. You get to modify things for real and have an impact on tons of things.

Since my interest in Android, i have been looking into the Android side of things for CPython. How CPython supports Android. Being physically present at PyCon US gave me the chance to meet and discuss with Android code owners. I met Malcolm Smith, who has been doing awesome Android works on Beeware and Chaquopy: A Python SDK for Android.

Maybe i am crazy for still investing in traditional software but in the long run, you cannot run Ai on auto-pilot. I mean, you can YOLO your way out but, the quality and stability is not the same without domain knowledge. As Ai hits, we get people who are less willing to dive into software and as such the maintainer pipeline gets reduced.

And, Open Source is going to need help. More than ever. Now!
