Pycon Us Is Goated

Abdur-Rahmaan Janhangeer | ...

PyCon US is a densely packed conference with different layers. It takes some serious time planning to make the most out of it.

Here’s what we have:

Most conferences have only multi-track talks happening. At PyCon US, you have compelling sessions happening at the same time. And, you cannot always plan in advance.

Lightning talks and open spaces are proposed and accepted during the conference. So, you have to keep an eye one day before. These are usually very good. As good as normal talks.

Summits are tracks happening at a specific room focusing on core Python topics like education, maintainance and packaging.

The content all around was mostly great, not as Ai-pilled as one would expect. OpenSource is as vibrant as always. I think we have too many Ai hype merchants on LinkedIn than make us believe that software engineering is a thing of the past.

And big companies are betting on Python. Anthropic sent in some $1.5M+ for security, Google backing up as visionary partner, OpenAI hosting the CPython core dev sprints. And so much more.

I think the PYMUG (Python Mauritius User-Group) team learnt lots of stuff and helped around too.

Though going every single day and being fully invested, i think i could only catch about 13% of the conference.

Great job organizing team and the Python Software Foundation.
